Government Steps In With More Billions

You know sometimes our government baffles us all. The truth is most of time it does. In a country where many are in debt beyond what they can ever repay, this golden nugget wisdom surfaces.  “The government has introduced a pair of new programs that will provide $800 billion to help unfreeze the market for consumer debt, which Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson calls vital to supporting the economy.
Paulson says key markets for consumer debt such as credit cards, auto loans and student loans essentially came to a halt in October. He says the new programs are aimed to get lending back to more normal levels. Exactly what is normal lending. Is It Time To Refinance Your Home Mortgage
Paulson says all the government programs have been aimed at supporting the lending that is vital to the economy.”
So this is not misunderstood, we are in debt, as individuals and as a country so we borrow more money and get in more debt?  First off how many have credit scores worthy of obtaining a loan in the first place? Is this not another band aid fix?  It sure seems so  to this observer.

Citigroup Bailout All But Approved

Here we go again and again. The CitGroup bailout is all but approved and another irresponsible private company is getting relief form the government. So the question I have is when does this stop. The big three automakers are going to get some type of bailout, and now the Citigroup bailout.

Citigroup is in this mess for making risky loans and securities backed by commercial and residential mortgages. I had a mortgage foreclosed on last Tuesday, Florida Bank Foreclosures happen everyday and people need foreclosure help , where were you then Uncle Sam?  It is a very simple principle, you cannot continue to borrow money after borrowing money, at some point someone needs to be paid. Unless of course you a big business. Consumers must face the consequences of unpaid bills, bi business just ask for a handout. What is wrong with this picture?

The fix for this thing has to be to let it break and not prop it up with Citgroup bailout or a big three bailout. Otherwise big companies just keep doing what they have always done.

Unemployment And Opportunity For Career Change

Unemployment hit a 4-year high at 6.5 % in October, most experts are calling for a jobless rate of 8 % in the coming months. What that means is many Americans are going to be changing careers and obviously employers. So what career field in the most likely to fill that need? Career Explorer list the ten hottest careers for 2009. 7 of those are in the medical field. Which Medical careers are in demand? Just about any type of support staff, from medical assistants, to medical records personnel, and everything in between. is in demand. Why?

People get sick in any economy and the health care industry is always open for individuals that are dedicated and are willing to be trained. Oddly Network Systems and Data Communications Analysts are listed as the number one available position followed closely by Physicians assistants. The fact is many people will be forced to choose a new career. Think about auto workers. Where will they go?

Honey Look At My Honus Wagner Baseball Card , I Got a Deal !

Honus Wagner never much cared for his baseball card to be included in cigarette packs and had them pulled. Although we don’t know historians theorize among other things he didn’t receive enough compensation. Even in those days ball players wanted to be paid . Supposedly less than 100 of these cards are known to exist , fewer than 10 in excellent conditon That motivated an Arkansas man to pay 1.62 million dollars for the 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card.

What enters a persons mind when the decision is made to pay 1.62 million for a piece of cardboard. Can you imagine explaining that to you significant other? Can you imagine the buyers remorse one might experience the morning after? I am going to assume that the Arkansas man has plans to monetize and market the Honus Wagner baseball card , but recovering 1.62 million is a long way from break even. Baseball card collectors have long been known for their obsession with cardboard. I myself once paid 700.00 for a Nolan Ryan rookie card, but I had a plan. I sold it the next day for 1200.00 . I wonder what pan from Arkansas can have for his Honus Wagner baseball card

Bennigans Stores Closing Nationwide , Glory Days Gone

Bennigans was founded in 1976. The restaurant has locations in 32 states. There was day when Bennigans was the place to go , the place to be. In fact there was d ay when Bennigans was one of my own best customers in my family owned hospitality equipment service agency. The truth is I probably wouldn’t have given this news a second thought if it wasn’t for that fact.
Living in the sunshine state of Florida I recently visited a Bennigans for dinner and my how the times have changed. The food, the service and the ambiance were horrible. Large restaurant chains are very trendy and change with the culture, that is the ones that want to be successful. Bennigans fell off the map years ago and never really jumped back on, So long Bennigans. Company stores will close today.

Cuil.com Doesnt Look So Cool To Me Just Yet

Well I guess there is another search engine to add to the mix. Cuil.com pronounced cool is debuting today so I thought I would give it a try, Maybe first day jitters but I say Cuil.com  isn’t so cool. The black search page is hard on the eyes and the results kind of suck , but maybe they are working out the bugs. Example Squoze.net wasn’t in there. How can that be? If it reportedly searches more pages that anyone, including the Big G?  Cuil.com hasn’t exactly won me over just yet. Google is still the Mac Daddy of the search engines, like them or hate them, Cuil.com is back burner for now

Starbucks Closing List Names 600 Stores Scheduled for Closure

Four Bucks, alias Starbucks named the 600 store closures and while it may seem like news today, the fact is, you will read about more of the store closures from other companies. Starbucks Store Closures gets the ink because well, it a big company and no one expects Starbucks store closures. I ask you though in all seriousness, would you feel more inclined to pay 4 bucks for Starbucks or four bucks for a gallon of Mobil Gasoline. I’m thinking it’s the gas . Starbucks closures wont force them into liquidation or anything; it’s just a sigh of the times . The Starbucks closing list totaled 600 stores, for now, but I still love Starbucks coffee
